Dirty by Kylie Scott - Rating 5 stars

I Loved this book.  I've been a fan of Scott's for awhile now, and this one did not disappoint.  It's the first in her Dive Bar series, and is in the same universe as the Stage Dive novels. And let me say - it's steamy (fans herself).

The book starts off with Lydia running away from her wedding and a very embarrassing situation.  She winds up in the house next door, effectively breaking in and hiding in the bathtub - where the homeowner, Vaughan, finds her - in her wedding dress, with mascara trailing down her cheeks.  Now, he could have just thrown her out and let her deal with her horrible situation by herself, but he doesn't.  He lets her stay and listens to her story.  And when Lydia finds herself also without an apartment and without a job, he lets her stay, and she winds up waitressing at the bar his sister owns.  Over the next few days, as Lydia has to come to terms with what happened, and with the fact that she has to completely rebuild her life, she and Vaughan grow closer (naturally), and sparks fly.

What's great about the book is that it's all told through Lydia's perspective, but we still get a chance to really know the other characters.  There's a lot of drama going on at the Dive Bar, and seen through Lydia's eyes its Awkward - we feel for her as she bears witness to long overdue fights and messy situations with people she barely knows.  We get to know Vaughan as Lydia gets to know Vaughan.  We fall for him as she does.  And her internal monologue is pretty funny.

I highly recommend this book, and Scott on a whole.  She writes funny, steamy romances that are great escapes.  If the people in her books are all "batshit crazy", as Lydia describes, then our lives can't be that bad, now can they?
